How We Became Boolat Play

In our previous article, we delved into the team's history, exploring its growth and development. Today, we'd like to share how, despite going through a restructuring, we remained a unified family.
To keep the story concise, let's start in 2011. At that time, the Boolat Games team had shifted from developing games on CDs for PC to creating cross-platform products distributed digitally. We even launched a platformer on the PlayStation 3 digital store with multiple expansions. This marked the first instance of a Ukrainian company producing a product for the Sony console.
Our unique experience with this platform led to our initial collaboration with Playrix. We licensed their casual PC game, 4 Elements, and adapted it for PlayStation 3 with support for the PlayStation Move controller. It was an incredible experience and our first joint project.
Subsequently, we dedicated ourselves entirely to casual gaming and free-to-play development. Our titles included Harvest Land, Sunken Secrets, Decurse, and several other F2P games. We kept in touch with Playrix, occasionally exploring the possibility of further collaboration.
During that period, all our team's resources were directed toward developing games released in partnership with our collaborators. Consequently, we lacked the resources to work on a new project with Playrix.
However, in 2020, we found a solution to that challenge. A restructuring of Boolat Games led to a division of the team, which resulted in the creation of Boolat Play—a new studio integrated into the Playrix group of companies. Boolat Play now focuses on developing its own products, while Boolat Games continues to support and enhance our previously released games, such as Harvest Land, Paris: City Adventure, and others, by releasing new updates and advancing their development.
Currently, over forty professionals work at Boolat Play, including game designers, artists, programmers, animators, interface specialists, testers, HR professionals, and PR managers. While our primary team operates from our central office in Kyiv, some employees work remotely from various cities across Ukraine.
Both companies, based in Ukraine, operate independently. But despite the separation of our studios, we are still the Boolat Team. We celebrate each other's achievements, organize joint events, and look forward to the future together.
